The mercy of God is independent from faith
A) The text of the speech by J.M.Bergoglio:
“Each person is to be viewed with benevolence, as he or she is seen by God, who extends his merciful hand to all, independent of faith and origin” (Address to the Jewish Community during the visit to the Synagogue of Rome Sunday, 17 January 2016)
B) References to Scriptures:
“If a message that was spoken through angels proved to be so reliable that every infringement and disobedience brought its own proper punishment, then we shall certainly not go unpunished if we neglect such a great salvation. It was first announced by the Lord himself, and is guaranteed to us by those who heard him” (Heb 2:2-3)
C) Comment:
Bergoglio, once again, is ambiguous in his statements. And from a misunderstanding to another, he induces in error. The error comes always, always, always from a false and misleading concept of divine mercy.
Mercy of God, the true one, cannot not depend from faith.
How can Bergoglio assert in the face of Jewish people that have not believed and still do not believe in Christ, the Son of the living God) that the Father “holds out his merciful hand to all, regardless of their faith“? But the priests of the Jewish people have crucified Jesus! If they do not recognize the error and if consequently they do not convert to the true Christian faith, how can they receive the mercy of the Father after putting to death His Son?
Here is, then, that the “mercy” of Bergoglio leads away from the Truth. It leads away from the path traced by Jesus. It leads on a way that does not bring to receive the embrace of the Father, but to receive His merciful justice that for many will be a sentence without appeal.
As it is written in the Letter to the Hebrews, if you neglect the Salvation, that passes through Christ, the only Savior of the world, how you can “escape” to the Judgement of condemnation of the Father for not having accepted Christ, His Son?
