“Jesus is free, salvation is free”

A)  The text of the speech by J.M.Bergoglio:

Passing through the Holy Door is the sign of our trust in the Lord Jesus who came not to judge but to save (cf. Jn 12:47). Be careful that no one rather swift or too shrewd tells you that you have to pay: no! Salvation is not to be paid for. Salvation is not bought. The Door is Jesus, and no one has to pay for having Jesus! He himself speaks about those who do not enter as they should, and he simply says that they are thieves and robbers. Again, be mindful: salvation is free” (General Audience Wednesday, 16 December 2015)

BS) References to Scriptures:

Since I have come not to judge the world, but to save the world: anyone who rejects me and refuses my words has his judge already: the word itself that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. they put human glory before God’s glory. Jesus declared publicly: Whoever believes in me believes not in me but in the one who sent me, and whoever sees me, sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as light, to prevent anyone who believes in me from staying in the dark. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them faithfully, it is not I who shall judge such a person, For I have not spoken of my own accord; but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and what to speak, and I know that his commands mean eternal life. And therefore what the Father has told me is what I speak” (Joh 12:47-50)

For God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but so that through him the world might be saved. No one who believes in him will be judged; but whoever does not believe is judged already, because that person does not believe in the Name of God’s only Son” (Joh 3:17-18)

C) Comment:

Bergoglio cites some of the words of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of St. John but omits to say what follows. The Apostle John writes that Jesus clearly explains: whoever does not accept His divine word will be sentenced by the same word.

The same Word, the Word of God, will condemn those who do not put into practice what He taught them. Salvation is never free. If one embraces Jesus, the Incarnate Word of the Father, and in doing so, puts into practice His teachings, will be saved. Otherwise they will not. Saying that one will be saved anyway, is a deception, because it is denying the intervention of God the Father in history, that sent His Son so that the people might believe in Him.

What sense would it have had sending His Son if the people, to save themselves anyway, would have believed or not?

At that point, if it would have been so, the Father would not have sent His Son, at all, to suffer and to sacrifice Himself on the cross. Jesus sacrificed himself so that those who believe in Him might obtain salvation. But who does not believe in Him, will not be saved.

It is far from a free salvation!

For those who do not believe, there will be a sure condemnation.

This is the unvarnished truth. It may please or not, but this is the reality. Saying the opposite is to deceive the people, that if they will be following the teachings of Bergoglio, at the time of Judgment, will perish.
