“Proselytism is poison for the ecumenical journey”

A) The text of the speech by J.M.Bergoglio:

(…) unity [of Christians] is not the fruit of our human efforts nor the product built by ecclesiastical diplomacy, but is a gift that comes from on high. (…) Our task is to receive this gift and make it visible to all. (…) And what bond unites all of us Christians more than the experience of being sinners but at the same time the object of God’s infinite mercy revealed to us by Jesus Christ? (…) unity is made by walking, in order to recall that when we walk together, that is, when we meet as brothers, we pray together, we collaborate together in the proclamation of the Gospel, and in the service to the last, we are already united. All the theological and ecclesiological differences that still divide Christians will only be surmounted along this path, although today we do not know how and when [it will happen], but that it will happen according to what the Holy Spirit will suggest for the good of the Church.
In the second place, unity is not uniformity. (…) To seek to do away with such diversity is to go against the Holy Spirit, who acts by enriching the community of believers with a variety of gifts. (…) It is an ecumenical task to respect legitimate differences and to lead to the overcoming of the irreconcilable differences with the unity that God requests. The continuation of such differences must not paralyze us, but push us to come together to seek the way to address such obstacles successfully.
Finally, unity is not absorption. Christian unity does not imply an ecumenism “in reverse”, by which some might deny their own history of faith; nor does it tolerate proselytism, which is, rather, a poison for the journey of ecumenism. Before examining what separates us, it is important to perceive also in an existential way, the treasure of what we have in common, such as the Sacred Scripture and the great professions of faith of the first Ecumenical Councils. (Address to participants in the plenary assembly of the pontifical council for promoting christian unity – Clementine Hall, 10 November 2016)

B) References to Scriptures:

And He said to them, ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mar 16:15-16)

C) Comment:

Bergoglio provides an overview of his new religious philosophy, which is very different from the doctrine taught by Jesus Christ and the Apostles.

Christ has specifically asked the Apostles to proselytize, to make known His doctrine to the world of good‑will, so that, by knowing Christ, all God’s creatures might become, in Christ, “children” of the Father, embracing the true religion that manifests Itself in the unique Church of Christ and abandoning other religious philosophies. In fact, only in Christ there is the true and full Salvation wanted by the Father.

Bergoglio teaches a new doctrine. In his ecumenism, unity does not need “human efforts”. So why have the martyrs in history sacrificed their lives to bring Christ to the whole world? Why has the Apostle Paul sacrificed his life, up to the point of being decapitated, in order to proclaim Christ Salvation of all peoples?

What binds Christians, that want to be united in Christ, is not “sin“, as Bergoglio teaches; but it is the total Love for Christ, the only true Good, absolute Truth. The teaching of these true Christians, disavows the relativism taught by Bergoglio that, denying the true sonship in Christ, has come to blaspheme the Holy Spirit saying that “we are all children of God“. Bergoglio now states that the “ecumenical task is to respect the legitimate diversities“; he states that the “Christian unity does not implicate an ecumenism “in reverse”, reason why some would have to deny their story of faith; and he does not even tolerate proselytizing, considered a poison for the ecumenical journey“.

This is the essential and substantial difference between the teachings of Bergoglio and of the extravagant church of Rome on one side, and the teachings of the Church of Christ on the other. The Church, the White Island that preserves the purity of the true Faith; the Church, She who is Mother, that welcomes and shelters Her children under Her Mantle, to make them enjoy the purity of Her Immaculate Heart. Mary, Mother Church, the New Jerusalem.
